Trends in dark colours for a stylish new house

We provide our best colour selections for daring movers who like to move in the dark

Now that I've finally moved into my new house, I'd like to venture outside of my comfort zone and try an edgy colour palette. Dark colours are having a major fashion moment, which is great news for movers who want to attempt something a little unusual when it comes to decorating.

Check out our pick of fashionable colours, and discover how ICI Dulux Inspire can help you to improve apprearance of your home :

1) Amethyst

This vibrant and alluring color of purple is more adaptable than you might imagine. An amethyst wall will instantly infuse passion into your design and looks great in settings with more square footage, including living rooms. For a striking impression, combine them with complementary hues like mossy greens, bright yellows, as well as specific tones of red and blue.

2) Stormy Grey

Any room can be quickly transformed to feel more opulent by painting it dark grey. Grey is a recessive colour that blends in with its surroundings, making it an ideal alternative to white or cream as a neutral background.

3) Deepest red

It's recommended to use a deep, chocolaty color of red sparingly because it will add a lot of drama to your new house. For a romantic, sophisticated ambiance that's ideal for the bedroom, pair with pure white walls or woodwork elsewhere in your design.

4) Timeless teal

Teal, a shade with undertones of blue and green, is incredibly calming and can be utilised liberally throughout your new house. Keep it bright and mix with mustard yellow, or balance the outfit with mint green for a calming impact.

5) Emerald green

Emerald is a brilliant colour that has long been connected to wealth and luxury. Because it is such a focal point, match it with neutrals for a sophisticated dining room design or, if you're feeling very brave, make it stand out against rich velvety blues and golds.
